The
Niobrara River flows east across northern Nebraska. The 25 mile stretch
near Valentine that is tubed cuts though meadows and under cliffs.
The river has rocky rapid-like areas and sandy calm stretches, islands
and sandbars. Springs and waterfalls abound. The first six miles of
your trip are through the Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge which
is home to hundreds of species of plants and animals. Most of the
river valley is privately owned and there is a friendly and cooperative
spirit among the Niobrara River dwellers and visitors. Please respect
the land and wildlife as you enjoy your trip.
